Precept Upon PreceptPrecept MinistriesThese are a series of Bible study workbooks that are “...designed to teach people of any background or educational level the inductive method of study which gives people the skills and, thus, the ability to go straight to the Word of God.” Books are available in two formats for most titles: Precept Upon Precept books should take about five hours of study per week; In & Out should take only one to two hours per week and are an easier type of course. Both types of books were written for use along with a weekly, hour-long presentation in a class setting where you are trained in the methodology. Sets of either audio or videotapes are offered for sale or rental to be used with the books especially if no class is available. The sets of audiotapes rent for a very reasonable price, and one or another of these presentation tools seems necessary to fully benefit from the courses. Some titles in the series are Genesis (Parts 1-5), Judges, Daniel, Habakkuk, John (Parts 1 and 2), Romans (Parts 1-4), I Corinthians (Parts 1 and 2), Philippians, Colossians, I Thessalonians, II Thessalonians, James, I John, II Timothy, Hebrews (Parts 1 and 2), Titus, I Peter, II Peter, Revelations (Parts 1-4), Spiritual Gifts, Covenant, and Marriage without Regrets. There are a few studies directed specifically to teens: Daniels for the 1990’s; Someday a Marriage without Regrets; Lord, Heal My Hurts; Lord, Is It Warfare?; Lord, Teach Me to Stand; Lord, Where Are You When Bad Things Happen?; and The Mask of Hypocrisy Melts in the Flames of Suffering (study in I Peter). Two series have been developed that can be used with less extensive training, the International Inductive Series and the Lord Series. The International Inductive Series includes titles such as Teach Me Your Ways (study of the Pentateuch), The Call to Follow Jesus (Luke), and Free From Bondage (Galatians and Ephesians). Free From Bondage also has either audio or videotapes available to purchase or rent. The Lord Series includes Lord, I Want To Know You; Lord, I Need Grace To Make It; Lord, Teach Me To Pray in 28 Days; Lord, Only You Can Change Me; and Lord, I’m Torn Between Two Masters. A companion volume is also available that teaches the basics of the Precept Upon Precept study methods. This book, How to Study Your Bible, the Lasting Rewards of the Inductive Method, should be used to learn how to use the Precept materials. All teaching is nondenominational, following a basic Christian statement of faith.
