The basic set includes a cassette with sixteen songs, a student workbook, and teacher’s guide that together teach parts of speech, punctuation, capitalization, sentence construction, Greek and Latin prefixes and suffixes, and more. Some student writing activities for reinforcement are in the workbook. The teacher’s guide helps us know when to use the tape and workbook and provides a few extra ideas along with an answer key. Some songs are more effective than others, and they range in style from very calm to almost “rock.” Listening to these songs is a great introduction to learning the parts of speech. Children find it much easier to identify nouns, verbs, etc. from the definitions and examples in the songs. While the songs are best suited for about third grade level through junior high, many older students and adults will also enjoy them.
