ReadyWriter®
ReadyWriter ® is an introductory penmanship program for young students that uses the standard ball-and-stick style. It includes motor skills practice with basic strokes, which is essential for consistent, legible penmanship. However, the format is much different from any others reviewed here. Pictorial exercises (farm scenes), wherein students complete pictures using what are essentially handwriting strokes, make it more interesting than simply making strokes on blank lines. It is presented in a single book with 12 copies each of 16 different exercises (printed on colored paper), an instructor's guide, and achievement certificates. Purchasers may photocopy workbook pages for use within their own families. While this is not a complete program, it is a fun resource to use with reluctant writers who need to develop fine motor skills.
