Boys and Girls of Colonial Days [grades 3-5]by Carolyn Sherwin BaileyChristian Liberty PressThis revised and edited edition of an original book by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey is an excellent supplement for children from about third grade up through fifth or sixth grade. It contains twelve stories about children in colonial days. In many of the stories the children meet famous people such as Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, George Washington, and Betsy Ross. The writing style sounds like the original was written in the nineteenth century, yet it is very understandable for children. The book also has numerous black-and-white illustrations, most of an older-appearing etched style in keeping with the text. This book is printed in large type in a 6” by 9” format, thus eliminating small-print problems for young readers.
