Diana Waring is a dynamic and entertaining speaker with a mission and a message. Her goal is to help us teach our children a Christian worldview. In this four-tape seminar, she recommends using history as the primary vehicle. On the first tape, she urges us to reject the dry textbooks that rush through factoids without bringing history to life in favor of real books and other resources and experiences.

The other three tapes in the seminar use history as the backdrop for teaching other subject areas from a worldview perspective. Tape two, “Making History Come Alive through Literature,” presents both the rationale and a reading list for literature at all different learning levels. Tape three, “Making History Come Alive through Art and Music,” draws on such sources as Francis Schaeffer’s How Should We Then Live?, David Quine’s Adventures in Art, and Diana’s own background in music to show how the arts are primary vehicles for worldviews. The fourth tape, “Making History Come Alive through Math and Science,” exposes the beliefs and motivations of mathematicians and scientists through history, particularly those who were Christian.

Diana shows how to translate worldview information into courses of study, making the task sound eminently practical and worthwhile. She also describes numerous resources for the various subject areas, covering all age levels. You will want to keep pen and paper handy to take notes as you listen.
