Science on a Shoestring

This book was designed to be used in kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms as either the basic science program or a supplement to other texts or resources. For the non-scientist, it tells what to say, what to do, and what to ask students, and it also provides answers to questions posed.

All lessons are taught through investigations performed with easily found, inexpensive (thus the "shoestring" of the title) materials. Investigations are grouped under three main themes: matter, change, and energy. Life, physical, and earth science are all represented.

Lessons are keyed for appropriate grade levels, so you can easily determine which experiments to use with younger or older children. All instructions are very clearly organized and easy to understand, and information for further investigation is included. There is more than enough here to rely on this as your primary science text in the early grades for a year or more.
