My First ReportsHewitt Homeschooling ResourcesDon’t settle for spoon feeding information to your children. Help them ask questions and develop research skills with these great little packets. Currently 21 packets are available. Each packet contains 12 sub-topic pages, and each page contains six to eight questions that students will have to research in order to make their report. Reproducible, lined sheets in three different sizes are included for the actual report writing. If you use one sub-topic per week, one packet will last an entire quarter. There are also unit study ideas for those of you who want to enlarge upon the chosen subject, with suggested activities relating to Bible, language arts, math, science, history, music and art. Field trip ideas and a list of books about each topic are included. With so many interesting ideas, these low-priced packets offer a good way to try out a unit study approach without a big investment. These are designed for grades 3-4, but can also be used with younger students with more help from a parent. You can save a chunk of money by purchasing a binder that has a collection of fourteen of these My First Reports. Reports included in the Binder are Music, Transportation, Weather, Me, Famous People, Large Mammals, Small Mammal, Pets/Farm Animals, Bugs and Worms, Birds, Reptiles and Amphibians, Plants, Solar System, and Marine Life. The other seven reports not included in the binder option are Eastern United States, Southern United States, Middle United States, Western United States, Sports, Outdoor Activities, and Olympics.
