Battle for Our Minds [audio or video series and booklet]by R.C. SproulLigonier MinistriesThis presentation consists of three 30-minute messages available in video, audiocassette, CD, or MP3 formats. A Study Guide booklet contains summaries, outlines, illustrations, and questions for comprehension and discussion. The presentation is divided into the three topics Classical/Biblical Worldview, Age of Enlightenment, and Secularism. On the first tape Sproul discusses the nature of God and His relationship with man. On the second and third tapes he traces the shifts in philosophy through the Enlightenment and into secularism. As in Summit Ministries’ Understanding the Times, Sproul uses a chart to identify how each worldview addresses ten major areas of life, here identified as God, religion, church, science, government, law, nature, life, the arts, and work. Since the presentation deals with abstract ideas, I recommend the video rather than the audio presentation because the visual mode holds attention better than auditory. Also, it helps to see the visual diagrams on the video rather than having to consult the booklet. Either way, you still need the booklet because it includes information not on the tapes such as comparison charts and explanations.
